Project Made: Homemade Ice Cream with Love

"Happieness doesn't result from what we get, but from what we give"

-Ben Carson

This homemade ice cream is so incredibly simple and only has three ingredients!!!! There is no equipment necessary, and you can make as much or as little as you need and freeze the rest.

I am a huge sweets fan, and plain jane vanilla ice cream makes me feel like a kid again. With Flu season fast approaching, I thought this would be a great sweet treat to cheer up a sick friend. It feels good on the throat and honestly, sprinkles make EVERYTHING better!!

Okay, so here is what you will need...

Ingredients:

Pure Cream

Vanilla Essence

Sea Salt (Rock Salt)

Sugar

Ice

Small Sandwich Baggies

Large (gallon size) Baggies

Recipe:

1 Cup Cream

1 Tablespoon of Sugar

1 Teaspoon Vanilla Essence

To Make:

Start by placing a small sandwhich bag inside a bowl incase you spill anything.

Pour Cream, Sugar, and Vanilla into the bag and zip shut

Place bag into another sandwhich bag and zip shut.

(double or triple bagging acts as a back up incase one of the layers breaks.)

- Next Take a large zip lock bag and fill 3/4 full with ice.

- Pour 1 cup of rock salt over the ice.

(Rock salt causes the ice to get extremely cold.) There is some scientific stuff behind whats happening but I cant remember.

- Double bag the ice to protect from water leaking out everywhere.

- Now take the small bag of ingredients and place inside the bags with the ice and rock salt. Zip lock everything close

-Now for the fun part... wrap the entire thing up in a towle and roll for 30-45minutes.

Just keep rolling, just keep rolling.

By about 15 minutes the kids are over it and would rather get icecream from the freezer, but just push through. It is so worth it!

I like to check the icecream after about 30 minutes. It should have started to become a solid. The longer you roll, the thicker the ice cream will become. We ended up finishing at more of a milkshake sort of stage, but put some aside in the freezer that came out like perfect icecream!!! Yum!!!

All that is left to do is add your favorite toppings or sprinkles and serve or give as an Act of Kindness.

Trust me, it will be enjoyed by ALL!!

I hope you all enjoyed this fun tasty treat. I know these two little girls got an absolute kick out of it!!! I also found that it was wonderful to teach them about working for what you want and that everything is not always instantly gratifying. They also learned about how mixing together certain ingredients and taking it to a freezing tempature can turn a liquid into a solid. If you decide to make some ice cream please send me a picture and let me know how it went. I would love love love to see your creation!
