When sewing a skirt or dress should you sew from the waist to the hem or vice versa? Or doesn't it matter?

Well, I find certain fabrics, like rayon, it does matter. Especially if the tension on your thread seems to run tight. I generally sew from the waist down. However, I think as long as you are consistent on both sides (sewing both in the same direction) then you should be fine. This isn't critical or even noticeable on linen, cotton and other stable fabrics, but it's good to get into the habit of sewing from the top down.
